Labor Day Announcement – Part-Time Operation Through Spring 2026

Hello Sterling RV Services LLC customer!

It seems like camping season just got here, doesn’t it? But I already see ferns turning brown and foggy mornings settling over the Alleghenies. It won’t be long before Fall is here! And with the changing of the seasons comes another – well, another changing of the seasons, so to speak.

 STATUS UPDATE: November 10, 2025

Hello Customer! If you haven’t read the news elsewhere on the website, we just received our first snowfall of the year here in Somerset County, PA, and that means the end of camping season! Sterling RV Services is closed for the 2025 camping season. We will reopen in April 2026 as usual, ready to serve!

Sterling RV Services Moving to Part-Time Operation

As of August 25th, 2025, I am operating Sterling RV Services as a part-time business. My other technicians and employees from this last season have moved on, and they take my best wishes with them! I’m glad many of you got the opportunity to work with Michael, Austin, Nick, and Gavin.

As some of you may remember, I started this year by launching a new brick n’ mortar RV Service Center specializing in RV roofing and reconstruction. However, the RV owners of the Laurel Highlands had other plans, other needs, other phone calls. So we listened to the market, and in June 2025 we returned to full-time mobile work focusing on system diagnostics. For more information, you can read my previous blog post here.

I’m not a technician by trade. I have a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering with a background in design and manufacturing engineering. These advanced skills have allowed me to learn field troubleshooting very quickly, but they’re also the reason I’m returning to an employed position in product and design engineering. It’s a bittersweet choice.

I have wonderful, wonderful customers. In fact, to be quite frank, I get enough phone calls to support at least 2-3 full-time technicians! But running a seasonal, mobile, customer-centric business that only has six warm(ish) months of the year to make hay while the sun shines is a business model I’m unfortunately not interested in scaling due to other commitments in my life.

I will continue to serve the RV owners of western Pennsylvania around Somerset, PA as best I can as a part-time owner/operator. Thankfully, I do have access to additional help as-needed.

2026 will be a new year with new goals, new people, and new announcements. I’m sure it will bring its own surprises, so hold tight for new announcements! In the meantime, thank you for being a customer of Sterling RV Services. Enjoy the fast-coming autumn color, and I’ll see you on the road.

SUMMARY OF PRACTICAL CHANGES UNTIL SPRING 2026

  • Most appointments will be late afternoons, evenings, or Saturday mornings. I will be focusing on jobs within 20-30 miles of Somerset, PA.
  • I will not be accepting any RV manufacturer, factory, or OEM warranties. I will accept most aftermarket warranty, extended service contract, and some insurance work.
  • Similar to before, I charge a $250 minimum for the first service call, and a $125 minimum for any follow-up calls.
  • To get in contact with me, either fill out my SRQ form online, send a text, send an email, or leave a voicemail with your name, phone number, your location, year/make/model of RV, a brief description of your problem, and your preferred timeline for repairs. Priority is given to customers who have filled out the SRQ form.
  • For a list of services I don’t offer, please visit my FAQ page. Also, same as before, I don’t sell retail parts, haul RVs, clean RVs, polish RVs, or offer state inspections.
  • I will respond to everyone when possible, but please be aware that during peak camping seasons and holiday weekends, there simply will not be time to respond to everyone. Most of my phone communications will be 4:30-6:00 PM. I appreciate your understanding!
